Below is the information we have received for your reading.

Thank you for your continued support

Best wishes from all the Team.

Lynsey Harrison

‘The government has announced that the following businesses must close after tonight:

  • Cafes
  • Pubs
  • Bars
  • Restaurants
  • Night clubs
  • Gyms
  • Leisure centres

This does  NOT include hair salons, barbershops or beauty salons.  The chancellor clarified that this list represents businesses whose main purpose is for social gatherings.  He specifically clarified that when he referred to ‘shops’ having to close he was talking only about the list above.

If salons remain open it is essential that they continue to take precautions to protect themselves and their clients.

We have had many queries from salon owners worried that they would have to close tomorrow so we wanted to get this information out to you as soon as possible.

Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion week

Our fabulous stylist Liz is now back in the salon after working backstage at Mercedes-Benz fashion week in Prague. For the second year in a row, Liz has been part of the KEVIN.MURPHY team creating amazing hair styles for the models before they walk on the runway. This year, Liz was given the fantastic responsibility of directing a few shows and even creating a look for the runway.

What happens at fashion week

A team of amazing hairstylists fly to S T O L E N  salon in the heart of Prague and meet with SESSION.MASTER and creative director Craig Hughan to begin training. It takes two days of intense training and organising to ensure the team have the looks perfected before they go to show.

On show day the team arrive and attended a run through of the days looks to go over any changes that may have occurred in the days leading up to the show. Once the models arrive, the team being prepping the hair with ANTI.GRAVITY and BODY.BUILDER which enables the team to create multiple looks throughout the day without the hair falling flat of building up with product.

The director for the show then demonstrates the look for each designer in front of the team before they break off and carry out the look themselves on the models.

Once the team have completed the look, the model is checked by the director before going to make-up or wardrobe and work on the next model begins.

In the lead up to show time the director and a small team of trusted stylists head to “the line” for last minute finishing and perfecting before the models walk out onto the runway. This part of the process is usually the most chaotic yet the most rewarding.

Once the models leave the runway, they head to wardrobe to get changed for the next designer, then back to hair and make up where the look for the next show is created.

What Liz has to say about fashion week

“Fashion week is probably the most insane, chaotic week of the year, and I absolutely love it. The energy is incredible and the adrenaline is immense. I have learnt so much whilst being on the hair team and I’m so proud that I was chosen for the opportunity to create a look and direct shows for the team. Being in charge was hard work but was a fantastic opportunity and a huge confidence boost. One of the things I love the most about fashion week is the people you meet. People fly from all over the world to be there and even though there may be a language barrier, you connect through passion and skill. We may only see each other once a year but we have all become a family and without these incredibly talented people, none of this would have been possible. I can’t wait for next season!”

Our stylists Jack and Lizzy have both been lucky enough to work back stage at London, Prague and Copenhagen fashion weeks in recent years, as part of the prolific Kevin Murphy Style Team.

They have been hugely inspired and pushed professionally whilst working back stage, following designers briefs, working in high pressure environments, under strict time constraints in order to recreate their high fashion and on trend runway looks.

They have been lucky to work alongside some of the industry’s top stylists and professionals and enjoy using these experiences to influence their in salon hair creations.
